Celebrating Fair Housing Month

Fair Housing Month BreakfastFair Housing Month BreakfastFair Housing Month ProclamationThis week, Portland Housing Bureau Director Traci Manning joined Commissioner Nick Fish, Mayor Charlie Hales, Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum and a host of Fair Housing experts in  welcoming Sara K. Pratt, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to City Hall.

Ms. Pratt met with jurisdictional partners and community leaders, praising what she called the “unprecedented gathering,” and applauding the strong partnerships in Oregon combating housing discrimination. She encouraged all of us to continue challenging old assumptions and habits.

Commissioner Fish read a proclamation during the City Council meeting, declaring April 2013 Fair Housing Month in the city of Portland. Neisha Saxena and Deborah Imse, members of our Fair Housing Advocacy Committee, testified at the proclamation presentation.

Special thanks to Ms. Pratt, Attorney General Rosenblum and our other special guests for joining us!
