Veterans Need YOU - Community Drive for Household Items

This June: Our community’s veterans need YOU to show you care with a Veterans Welcome Home move-in kit

Over the last several years, staff from the VA, community nonprofits, and local government have worked together to help get our homeless veterans – particularly those who are disabled – off the streets and into homes of their own. In the last few years alone, more than 300 disabled veterans have made that transition. Yet for those who are moving off the street, many lack those necessities that many of us take for granted. For those who are recently moved into their own place, they may be struggling to re-connect with the community. They need your care, and household goods, to make all the difference.

We need 300 “Welcome Home” move‐in kits to help households transform their new apartment into a home. Your donations will go directly to a veteran family or individual transitioning into housing after weeks, months or even years of living on the streets. Moving from the streets or shelter can be isolating, as veterans settle into their new home. Your donation of household items will show our veterans that the community cares about them and provide those extra niceties that help make a house a home and a veteran feel appreciated. Consider dividing up the list among friends or family or making a giving tree at work.

Goods can be dropped off 24-hours a day at the Bud Clark Commons Day Center, 665 N.W. Hoyt St. Call Stacy Borke at 503-280-4720 or email sborke@tprojects.org for more information.
