Runaway laws
What to do if your child is missing
If your child is missing and
- if the disappearance was not voluntary
- if your child is in the company of a dangerous person
- if your child is at a young age or has physical or mental limitations
- if your child is missing under suspicious circumstances
- if your child has no history of running away
CALL 9-1-1 AND REPORT IT IMMEDIATELY.

What to do if your child is a runaway
If you believe your child is a runaway with any dangerous or suspicious circumstances as listed in the "What to do if your child is missing,"
CALL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY.
If you believe your child is a runaway and not in immediate danger or is a chronic runaway, call the non-emergency reporting telephone number at 503-823-3333. Do not wait to report.

What to do when your child returns home
If your child returns home, immediately call 503-823-3333 and report that your missing or runaway child has returned home.
If your child was initially reported as a runaway you may also call 503-988-6429 to clear the report. If you receive a recorded message, please state your name, your day and evening telephone numbers, the name and date of birth of your runaway child, and the date and time of return along with the circumstances of the return.
