GirlStrength is a free violence prevention program offered through the Family Services Division of the Portland Police Bureau. GirlStrength is designed to meet the developmental needs of youth ages 10-17. The programs, workshops and classes are inclusive and offered to any youth who identifies as a girl, or whose gender expression is female, fluid or non conforming. Learn More! Throughout the year, GirlStrength offers nine week programs for girls in grades 5-8. We share the same philosophy as our sister program, WomenStrength, and offer empowerment self-defense classes and personal safety workshops all over Portland. Click here to see the 2016-17 schedule! Since 2008, GirlStrength has trained approximately 6,500 girls in personal safety and violence prevention techniques. Request a program
