March 28, 2016: Sr Police Program Specialist recruitment

The Portland Police Bureau is accepting applications for a Sr. Police Program Specialist. This is a non-sworn position responsible for investigating sexual assault cases under the SAKI (Sexual Assault Kit Initiative) grant, and preparing cases for district attorney review. This recruitment will remain open until we receive 100 applications or until Friday, April 8, 2016 (whichever comes first).

March 14, 2016: Community Police Officer recruitment

The Portland Police Bureau is currently accepting scores for an ongoing interested list of qualified candidates. Candidates interested in the department will be able to submit their scores starting March 7, 2016. The Police Bureau anticipates opening the department application process in late May 2016 through late June 2016, with oral interviews scheduled for August and September 2016.

Candidates will need to apply with the Portland Police Bureau during the application period in May/June 2016 in addition to taking the NTN test. All candidates should have scores submitted by June 19, 2016 to be considered for the Portland Police Bureau’s eligibility list.

To be placed on the Portland Police Bureau Eligibility list you will need to:

  • Complete the NTN test and submit these scores by June 19, 2016 AND

  • Complete the City of Portland Police Bureau application when it opens in May 2016.

The Portland Police Bureau accepts both the OR-PAT or the Portland Police Bureau-specific PAT. If you are applying with the Portland Police Bureau you can take the PPB PAT offered by us at no cost. For more information, please see our Hiring Process page.

You can also take the OR-PAT through NTN for an additional fee (Please note: this is not the physical abilities test that is included in the price of the law enforcement test. The ORPAT is a different test). The OR-PAT/PPB PAT are not required to apply for the position, but it is required as part of the hiring process and will need to be completed prior to any conditional offer of employment.

The NTN Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) is not required for the Portland Police Bureau - we will conduct our own PHQ during the hiring process.
