CHRISTINE IONE LAWSON
On June 10th, 2003, around 4 am, a Pinkerton Security guard discovered the body of a 43 year old woman lying in the doorway of a building on NW 2nd Av between Couch and Burnside Streets.
The victim was later identified as Christine Ione Lawson, 5’1”, 125 lbs, a woman described as a transient who had family in California.
Ms Lawson was known to police as a crack cocaine user and prostitute who frequented the Old Town area. An autopsy determined that Ms Lawson died of “homicidal violence”. Crime scene evidence led Detectives to believe that Ms Lawson was killed at another location and then “dumped” where her body was found. Old Town residents knew Ms Lawson as someone who could have an attitude but was not violent. She was not a “trouble maker”.
A person of interest identified at the time was Carl Lee Simington, black male, 6’2”, 200 lbs.
