The shooting victim from last night at North Mississippi Avenue and North Failing Street has been identified as a 14-year-old male and he is still recovering from his injuries at a local hospital.

Several subjects were detained last night but no arrests were made. The Gang Enforcement Team has been assigned the case and this is an ongoing investigation.

Tonight at approximately 6 p.m., Portland Police Officers from North Precinct responded to a shooting at the corner of North Mississippi Avenue and North Failing Street. Officers found a juvenile male victim at the scene suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Officers set up a perimeter in the area and began a K-9 track to look for the suspects involved in the shooting.

The Gang Enforcement Team was called to the scene to investigate because officers believe this shooting is tied to gang activity. Officers have detained several persons of interest in this incident and will continue to investigate this assault.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is recovering from his injuries.
