UPDATE: Portland Police Investigate Fatal Pedestr

The deceased man in last night's fatal pedestrian accident has been identified as 54-year-old Jeffrey Paul Waldrop. Mr. Waldrop died while en route to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in the area of Southeast 65th and Foster. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with officers. Investigators do not believe the driver was impaired and speed was not a factor. The vehicle involved was a Ford Ranger pick-up.

On May 2nd at approximately 9:00 p.m., Portland Police Officers responded to 65th and Southeast Foster on a call of a pedestrian and vehicle accident. When they arrived, they located a 54-year-old man who had been hit by a vehicle. The man was transported via ambulance but died en route to the hospital.

The Bureau's Major Crash Team was called to the scene to investigate this incident and this is an ongoing investigation. The driver of the vehicle involved in this incident remained at the scene and is cooperating fully in the investigation.
