UPDATE: Portland Police Investigating Pedestrian Struck in North Portland

Portland Police have identified the pedestrian struck in last night's crash at North Lombard Street and Ida Avenue as 21-year-old Zachary Krick. Krick was transported to an area hospital and remains in serious condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators learned that a Subaru Legacy driven by 44-year-old Joseph McCormack was traveling northbound on North Ida Avenue when Krick walked into the street in front of the moving car, which had a green light.

Mr. McCormack remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigators.

No citations have been issued and the crash remains under investigation.

This evening, December 15, 2010 at approximately 8:46 p.m., Portland Police officers responded to the intersection of North Lombard Street and North Ida Avenue on the report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle. Officers and medical personnel arrived and found a 21-year-old down in the street suffering from several injuries. Medical personnel transported the victim to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division Major Crash Team.
