Early this morning, Wednesday June 29, 2011, at 12:10 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to the report that a 34-year-old male walked in to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to his left calf.

Officers contacted the victim, Tamir Lawrence, who told them that he'd been on the porch of his residence in the 3500 block of North Albina Avenue when someone fired multiple shots at him, striking him one time.

Officers went to the area described by Lawrence and found evidence of gunfire in the street and several bullet holes in Lawrence's residence. A crime scene was established and detectives from the Gang Enforcement Team were called to investigate. Lawrence was unable to provide a suspect description. There were no other calls of shots fired from area residents.

Lawrence was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was released from the hospital. Officers then arrested Lawrence for an unrelated assault that occurred on June 20, 2011. Lawrence was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on one count of Assault in the Fourth Degree and one count of Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree.

Anyone with information about this shooting is encouraged to contact Detective Lori Goodwin at (503) 823-2079 or lori.goodwin@portlandoregon.gov
