Woman riding motorcycle severely injured in crash on 82nd Avenue at Tolman Street

Today, Thursday July 7, 2011 at 5:21 p.m. Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct and officers assigned to the Traffic Division responded to a crash involving a car and mini-motorcycle at Southeast 82nd Avenue and Tolman Street. The mini-motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Southeast Tolman Street. The rider a 19 year-old female apparently disregarded a stop sign at southeast 82nd Avenue and rode right in front of a vehicle traveling southbound on 82nd Avenue. The motorcycle was struck by a vehicle. The rider was not wearing a helmet and is believed to have suffered severe injuries. The woman was transported to an area hospital where she is believed to be in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle, 31 year-old Tamara Holloway remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation. Several witnesses remained at the scene and confirmed Ms. Holloway's account of how the crash occurred.

The Major Crash Team was called out and took over the investigation. No citations have been issued and no arrests have been made thus far.

The investigation is continuing.
