4-year-old Braxton Thompson has been located safe and sound and per court order he has been reunited with his grandmother.

Detectives from the Missing Persons Unit obtained information on Darlene Thompson-Burns whereabouts and officers from the Portland Police Bureau's East Precinct located her and Braxton at a residence in Southeast Portland.

Braxton was in good health and taken back to his grandmother, who is his legal guardian.

Detectives have not arrested his mother at this time but will present the investigation to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for possible prosecution.

The Portland Police Bureau Missing Persons Unit is asking for the public's help in locating 4-year-old Braxton Thompson, who disappeared with his biological mother on Monday, November 14, 2011. Braxton's legal guardian is his grandmother, who had allowed the child's mother, 27-year-old Darlene Thompson-Burns, to take him for a short visit. Thompson-Burns never returned with the child, and the incident was reported to police, during the afternoon, as an apparent custodial dispute.

Detectives developed new information this afternoon, November 15, 2011, indicating that Braxton suffers from a combination of medical conditions which, if left untreated, could prove to be life-threatening. Additionally, they believe his mother suffers from a medical condition which would prevent her from caring for him safely, or providing him with emergency care, if necessary.

Thompson-Burns may be in the Delta Park area, and has been known to frequent Downtown homeless shelters. She is believed to be either on foot with the child, or using TriMet or MAX to get around.

Braxton is described as a 4-year-old white male, 3'4" tall, weighing 43 pounds. He has light brown hair and hazel eyes, and was last seen wearing a light-blue winter jacket with reflective stripes, a red shirt with dinosaurs on it, blue jeans and black shoes with Cars cartoon characters on them.

Thompson-Burns is described as a 27-year-old white female, 5'5" tall, weighing 240 pounds. She has shoulder-length brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black, short-sleeved t-shirt with silver and gold "Rock Star" printed on the front, light blue jeans, black tennis shoes and a teal-green baseball cap with a tribal, dream-catcher-type logo on it.

Anyone who knows of the whereabouts of either of these people is asked not to approach them, but to immediately call 9-1-1.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact either Detective Carol Thompson, (503) 823-1081, or Detective Mike Weinstein, (503) 823-0446, at the Missing Persons Unit.
