On Friday, November 25, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. the North Precinct Neighborhood Response Team with the assistance of the Youth Services Division will be conducting an education and outreach mission at the Lloyd Center to raise awareness about the prevalence of theft from cars during the Holiday Season.

Officers will be contacting customers in the parking areas to remind them not to leave valuables in their vehicles, and handing out literature. Outreach has begun through cooperation with Lloyd Center management by providing tips to merchants in the mall and asking them to hold large items for customers until they have completed shopping for the day.

Car prowls are especially prevalent this time of year due to an increase in both shoppers and items purchased, as well as people being in a bigger hurry who might forget to secure things properly.

For additional information, contact Officer Pete Helzer at 503-545-3435.
