Update: The pedestrian injured last night is 50-year-old Daniel Roberts of Portland. He is in stable condition at an area hospital.

The driver of the car is 27-year-old Kayce Ernst also of Portland.

The car made contact with Mr.Roberts as he walked across Division in the right lane of the eastbound lanes of Division just west of 111th Avenue. The driver, Ernst, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Impairment was not a factor in the crash.

The investigation is continuing.

On Thursday January 5, 2012 at 7:12 p.m. Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to a call of a pedestrian struck at Southeast 111th and Division Street.

Officers arrived to find an adult man in his 40?s seriously injured; he was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene.

The Forensic Evidence Division and Traffic Division were called to the scene to conduct the investigation. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation and there are no signs of impairment. The man injured is in surgery and is in critical condition.

The investigation is continuing.
