January 07, 2012 16:45Update: The pedestrian stuck last night is 76-year-old James A. Ridderbusch. He died as a result of injures sustained in the crash.
The driver of the car that stuck him is 47-year-old Jeanette E. Fox.
The investigation has revealed that Ridderbush crossed against the light and Fox was proceeding on a green light. Fox remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
On Friday January 6, 2012 7:44 p.m. Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to a call of a pedestrian struck on Macadam Avenue at Pendleton Street. Arriving officers found a man believed to be in his sixties injured from being hit by a car. The pedestrian is suffering from what are believed to be life threatening injuries.
Portland Fire and AMR ambulance responded to the scene and the pedestrian was transported to an area hospital.
The Traffic Division Major Crash Team has been called to the scene to conduct the investigation. Preliminarily, it appears the driver of the car was traveling northbound on Macadam and the pedestrian was crossing Macadam eastbound.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Impairment does not appear to a factor in this case.
The investigation is continuing.
