UPDATE #3: Portland Police Investigating a Fatal Traffic Crash in Northeast Portland

The two people killed in yesterday's traffic crash on Northeast 162nd Avenue have been identified as 56-year-old Larry Gene Williams (driver) of North Portland and 32-year-old Latasha Simone Kinney (rear passenger) of Southeast Portland. The other two occupants that suffered traumatic injuries have been identified as 51-year-old Rebecca Jones of Southeast Portland and 25-year-old Christopher James Gould of Southeast Portland.

Gould and Jones remain in serious condition an area hospital recovering from injuries suffered in the crash.

Traffic Investigators have finished processing the crash scene at Northeast 162nd Avenue and Fargo Street. Investigators were able to determine that the vehicle was northbound on 162nd Avenue at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch. Witnesses who spoke with officers estimated the vehicle's speed to be between 70 and 100 miles an hour.

The driver, an adult male, was deceased at the scene. A rear passenger, believed to be an adult female, was also killed in the crash. The other two passengers, identities unknown, were taken to area hospitals with traumatic injuries.

Identities on all four people in the car will be released as soon as police can confirm them and notify family members.

This afternoon, Monday March 12, 2012, at 4:15 p.m., Portland Police officers from North Precinct responded to Northeast 162nd Avenue and Fargo Street on the report of a car that hit a tree and went into a ditch. Witnesses reported that 4 people were trapped in the car.

Officers arrived along with Portland Fire & Rescue personnel and have begun working to get the victims out of the car. One of the occupants is deceased.

Traffic along Northeast 162nd Avenue North of Sandy Boulevard is closed.

The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is responding to conduct an investigation.
