This afternoon, Friday April 13, 2012, at approximately 1:52 p.m., Portland Police officers saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed Northbound on Southeast 84th Avenue near Flavel Street. Officers got behind the vehicle on Southeast 82nd Avenue and followed it southbound as it attempted to get away from the police. Officers pursued the vehicle onto Westbound Malden Street where the suspect vehicle did a quick u-turn and came back towards the officers and hit the front of the police car then sped away southbound on 82nd Avenue. The officers continued to pursue for a short distance but terminated the pursuit.
Two police officers were in the car at the time of the crash. The officer driving suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has been transported to an area hospital.
Officers from the Portland Police Bureau and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office are checking the area for the suspect vehicle.
The suspect vehicle is described as an early 1990s Honda Accord 4-door, lowered with oxidized reddish/purple paint. The driver is described as a white male.
