April 21, 2012 09:15On Friday April 20, 2011 at 7:45 p.m. Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a report of a motorcycle and car crash at 14th and NE Alberta. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to an area hospital with what may be life-threatening injuries. The Traffic Division Major Crash Team responded to the scene and began the investigation
The motorcycle drove westbound on NE Alberta and the car vehicle drove southbound on NE 14th Avenue. The car stopped for the stop sign and then proceeded south across Alberta. The motorcycle is believed to have ridden at speeds above the speed limit. The car did not see the motorcycle rider likely based on speed. The motorcycle impacted the car in the driver's side (both the driver's and rear passenger's door). There was skid mark from the motorcycle just east of the intersection.
AMR ambulance responded to the scene and transported the motorcycle rider an area hospital the man remains in critical condition with life threatening injuries.
The car driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. At this point investigators do not believe intoxicants were a factor for the driver of the car.
North Precinct personnel in their initial response secured the crime scene and identified witnesses to the crash. The Forensic Evidence Division responded to the scene and took photographs.
