April 23, 2012 11:15This morning, Monday, April 23, 2012 at about 5:12 a.m. Portland Police Officers assigned to East Precinct responded to a pedestrian struck on 82nd Avenue and Northeast Wasco. Arriving they found an adult man seriously injured and the car involved stopped at the scene. The Traffic Division Major Crash Team was called out and is conducting the investigation.
The car was southbound on 82nd Avenue above I-84. Approximately 67 feet north of NE Wasco, car struck the pedestrian in the #2 southbound lane. The pedestrian ran from the east side to the west side of 82nd Avenue according to a witness at the crash. The crash did not take place in or near a crosswalk.
AMR responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian an area hospital and he has potentially life-threatening-injuries
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The driver called 911 about the crash after he struck the pedestrian. He did not display any signs of intoxication.
East Precinct personnel secured the crime scene and identified and assisted in the investigation of the crash. The Forensic Evidence Division responded to photograph the scene also.
The investigation is continuing.
