This afternoon, Wednesday June 6, 2012, at 2:17 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to the report of shots fired in the 3500 block of Northeast Simpson Street. A witness told 9-1-1 that a newer white SUV with chrome rims was last seen westbound on Simpson Street and was possibly involved in the shooting.

Officers arrived in the area and found evidence of gunfire but no victims. An officer enroute to the shooting scene saw a newer white SUV with chrome rims parked near Northeast 18th Avenue and Lombard Street. Neighbors in that area reported to officers that a male was hiding in the neighborhood and directed police to him, where he was taken into custody.

Officers are continuing to investigate and they do not believe the shooting is gang-related.
