Portland Police Bureau Robbery Detectives are asking for the public's help in locating 54-year-old David William Chilton in connection with two violent crimes that occurred in Portland on Monday June 11, 2012.
Chilton is suspected of brandishing a firearm at a uniformed Portland State University Public Safety Officer in Downtown Portland before fleeing the area.
Later Monday afternoon, at 3:47 p.m., the Key Bank branch located at Northeast 102nd Avenue and Halsey Street was robbed at gunpoint and the suspect, also believed to be David Chilton, left a hoax explosive device behind in the bank.
After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money from the bank, Chilton robbed a person in the parking lot of their vehicle, a white 1997 Toyota 4Runner.
Nobody was injured during either incident.
Chilton is described as a white male, 5'10", 180 pounds, gray hair and mustache, last seen wearing a dark green t-shirt and a tan baseball cap. Chilton also has lots of tattoos on his right forearm.
The vehicle has Oregon license plate 110CYU and is a white 1997 Toyota 4Runner.
Chilton's photo and a photo of a similar model Toyota are being released.
Anyone who sees Chilton or the vehicle is asked to immediately call 9-1-1.
