On Monday, June 11, 2012 at 11:42 a.m. a Portland Police Transit Sergeant and the Division Commander were on routine patrol and responded to a call of a disturbance at 5th and SW Morrison with six people fighting. A group of about 12 people were in a circle surrounding a subject who was on the ground.

Arriving the Sergeant and Commander learned from their investigation that the suspect, 18-year-old Tyler Edward Adams had robbed 18-year-old Kassandra Reynolds of her smart phone and ran off. The victim and other by-standers all gave chase, yelling stop and ultimately knocking Adams down. Adams did resist the group but they overcame his resistance and held him until officers arrived and took him into custody without incident.

Adams was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center where he was booked on one count of Robbery in the Third Degree.
