The victim in this morning's crash died at an area hospital. He has been identified as 19-year-old Marcus Perez. Alcohol and speed were significant factors in the crash.

This was the third traffic fatality of the week in Portland.

Northeast Lombard Street is now reopened to traffic after this morning's crash. Crews from Portland Power & Light responded to repair the power pole involved in the crash.

The driver remains in critical condition at an area hospital. Investigators have not yet identified the driver. Based on the investigation, officers determined that both speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

This morning, Friday June 15, 2012, at 5:15 a.m., Portland Police responded to the report of a single vehicle crash into a power pole in the 3200 block of Northeast Lombard Street.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and found the car to occupied by what appears to be an adult male. Medical personnel worked to free the man from the car and he has been transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is at the scene conducting the investigation.

Traffic is closed both directions on Lombard from Northeast 33rd Avenue to 28th Avenue.

No additional details are available at this time but will be released later in the day.
