Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 19, 2012 pastors from many of Portland's churches will come together to sign a Covenant for Violence or Gang Related Funerals Protocol.

As community leaders Pastors have come together to take a stand against violence. Sadly, many times this stand comes at a time of crisis and in the face of senseless tragic violence where there is a loss of life of a young person.

Pastors have an important message to send to the families in our community about the importance of responsibility for each family in preventing and discouraging gang involvement.

When Pastors come together they are a powerful coalition of people and a force for good to stand against the glorification of gang live, especially in places of worship - it has also been stated that respect within the community for churches by youth and or persons wearing hats and or gang attire would be asked for, with the "caveat" that church is no place for anyone who does not display respect.

The press conference will be held at North Precinct, 449 NE Emerson in the Community Meeting Room at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow Tuesday June 19, 2012.

Look forward to seeing you all there.
