Portland Police Bureau Homicide Detectives are continuing the investigation into tonight's stabbing death in Southwest Portland.
Based on the preliminary investigation, officers learned that there was a dispute between two men near the intersection of Southwest Shattuck Road and 59th Court. During the confrontation in the street a male in his 20s was stabbed and ran to a nearby residence where police and medical personnel determined that he was deceased. The other person in the dispute, a 19-year-old male, remained at the scene and has been detained at this time.
Detectives are in the very early stages of the investigation and would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the confrontation or has any information about the incident.

No updates are expected in this case until after the Oregon State Medical Examiner performs an autopsy on Thursday.

This evening, Thursday June 27, 2012, at 7:08 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to the report of a stabbing in the 5900 block of Southwest Shattuck Road.
Officers arrived in the area and located a male victim and determined he was deceased. One person has been detained at the scene.
Media staging is at Southwest 59th Avenue and Illinois Street.
PIO is enroute, ETA 30 minutes.
