UPDATE: Traffic Division Major Crash Team Called Out

The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is continuing to investigate the circumstances of today's crash on North Marine Drive.

Preliminary information indicates that two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when one of the vehicles crossed over the center line and the two crashed head-on. Both drivers were taken to a Portland hospital with serious injuries.

49-year-old Shawn Kelly was driving a Ford F-150 pick-up and suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

21-year-old Heath Martin was driving a Kia sedan and suffered life-threatening injuries.

Both remain in the hospital at this time and the crash is still under investigation.

On Monday July 9, 2012 at 2:15 p.m. Portland Police Officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a serious crash on Marine Drive in the 7700 block. Arriving officer located a vehicle crash between a passenger car and pick up truck.

The driver of the passenger car has been transported to an area hospital with possible life threatening injuries and the diver of the pick up has been transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The Traffic Division Major Crash Team has been called out to conduct the investigation and Marine Drive at Leadbetter Road is closed for the investigation.

The investigation is continuing
