Homicide detectives are continuing the investigation into this morning's homicide in Northeast Portland.
The Oregon State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy today on the victim, identified as 40-year-old Dion Anthony Matthews, and determined that Mr. Matthews suffered multiple stab wounds, one of which caused his death.
Detectives have a very limited suspect description and are asking for tips form the public to identify the man, described to be an African American male adult, wearing light colored clothing, possibly plaid shorts.

This morning, Thursday July 12, 2012, at 12:21 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to the report of a disturbance in the parking lot of the Village Garden Apartments, located at 15278 Northeast Sandy Boulevard.
Officers arrived and located an adult male victim suffering from critical injuries. Medical personnel responded to the scene but could not save the man's life and he died at the scene.
Officers have searched the neighborhood for a person-of-interest, described as an African American male wearing a baseball cap and plaid pants or shorts, last seen walking eastbound out of the apartment complex. Officers and a Police K-9 Unit did not locate the suspect.
Homicide detectives, Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division and a Medical Examiner are responding to begin a homicide investigation.
No additional details are available at this time as this will be an ongoing homicide investigation.
Media is advised to stage on Northeast Sandy Boulevard at 152nd Avenue. PIO is enroute to the scene.
