Portland Police Investigating an Armed Robbery in the Kenton Neighborhood

This afternoon, Monday July 16, 2012, at 1:45 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to the report of an armed robbery at the 76 Gas Station, located at 2001 North Lombard Street.

Officers arrived in the area and contacted the victim who told police that the suspect approached him as he was getting into his car and demanded money. The victim is the gas station owner and gave the suspect and undisclosed amount of money. The suspect then fled the area on foot. The victim told police that the suspect was armed with a handgun that he pointed at the victim.

Officers checked the neighborhood for the suspect but did not locate anyone matching his description.

The victim described the suspect as an adult male, possibly Hispanic or Native American, 5'11" tall, 140 pounds, black straight shoulder-length hair, wearing black clothing.

Robbery detectives will be reviewing area surveillance video for investigative leads.
