In response to the early morning tragedy in Aurora, Colorado, Portland Police officers will be conducting extra patrols around movie theaters to help people feel reassured about their personal safety, officers will be providing extra patrol around movie theaters and will be out and about in our community. At this time, there is no information to suggest a similar incident will occur in Portland.

"We join with the rest of the nation in grieving this unthinkable violent tragedy," said Chief Reese. "Similar to other cities and other law enforcement agencies, we want to ensure people feel safe while they are out enjoying entertainment venues."

The Portland Police Bureau asks that anyone in the public seeing something suspicious around Portland movie theaters to call 9-1-1.
