Bank Robbery Suspect known as the 'Bling Bandit' Arrested on Wednesday

On Wednesday, July 25, 2012, Portland Police Bureau Robbery Detectives, with assistance from Multnomah County Community Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, took 37-year-old Ivory Joe Watkins into custody for a Parole Violation. Federal Bank Robbery charges are pending against Watkins in U.S. District Court.

On April 26, 2012, the U.S. Bank located at 4100 Northeast 122nd Avenue was robbed by an African American male purporting to be armed.

On June 29, 2012, the Wells Fargo located at 5444 Southeast 82nd Avenue was robbed by a similarly described African American male purporting to be armed. Members of the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force subsequently identified the unknown serial robber as the "Bling Bandit." A surveillance photo from this case is attached.

On July 16, 2012, the U.S. Bank located at 4100 Northeast 122nd Avenue was again robbed by a similarly described African American male purporting to be armed.

Subsequent investigation, including the development of a fingerprint left at the scene and the execution of search warrant, identified the suspect as Ivory Joe Watkins. Watkins' mug shot is attached.
