Gang Enforcement Detectives Arrest Suspect for July Gang Shooting in Northeast Portland's King Neighborhood

This morning, Thursday July 26, 2012, at approximately 4:00 a.m., the Portland Police Bureau Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) served a search warrant at a residence in the 3200 block of Southeast 92nd Avenue.

The search warrant was in connection with a gang-related shooting that occurred on July 4, 2012 at Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Jarrett Street where 24-year-old Romario Pete Elliott was shot in the buttocks during a shootout between a vehicle and a group of people at a car wash.

Gang investigators identified Crip gang associate 24-year-old Romel Yarborough as a suspect in the shooting and obtained a search and an arrest warrant for him and his residence in Southeast Portland.

The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are possible.

Yarborough was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder, Assault in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Yarborough will be arraigned on Friday.
