UPDATE: Jonathan Byrd has been located and is safe.

###Original Message###

The Portland Police Bureau is asking for the public's help in locating 52-year-old Jonathan Byrd, who was initially reported missing on August 4, 2012, from his Northeast Portland home, in the 2100 block of Northeast Schuyler Street. Family members described Byrd as suffering from a medical condition which could possibly cause him to pose a risk to his own safety.

During the course of the continuing investigation, Missing Persons detectives determined that Byrd was seen near his residence this afternoon, but left in his van, before police or medical assistance could be summoned. Based upon witness information, detectives have become increasingly concerned for Byrd's safety at this time.

Byrd is described as a white male, 52 years old, 5'11", 200 pounds, with short, salt and pepper hair and hazel eyes. He no longer has a mustache and goatee as shown in his attached photo, but he may currently have a few days' growth of facial hair. There is no available clothing description.

Byrd is believed to be driving a green, 1996 Mercury Villager Van, with Oregon license plates UXK 823.

Anyone who knows of Byrd's current whereabouts is asked not to approach him, but to immediately call 9-1-1. Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to contact Detective Mike Weinstein, at 503-823-0446.
