Today, Friday, August 17, 2012 at 1:20 p.m. Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to the 9200 block of North Seneca on a report of a man shot.

Arriving officers located the victim, a man in his twenties who had been shot in his leg. He was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the area on foot. The suspect was described as a white, male, 21-years-old, 6'1, medium build, and dirty blonde hair and was last seen wearing a white shirt and pants.

Officers learned that the suspect and victim knew one another and that there was a dispute today prior to the shooting.

Officers put up crime scene tape to preserve the evidence and called for Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division to process the crime scene and officers also called Assault Detectives to assist them in conducting the investigation.

As the crime scene was only one block from Pier Park officers called the Parks Bureau and asked that Pier Park pool be closed until they were able to determine that the area was safe.

As officers were processing the crime scene an individual believed to be involved in the shooting returned to the scene. Officers the detained the individual and then transported him to the Detective Division. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Assault Detectives booked 22-year-old Joshua Clay Jones in the Multnomah County Detention Center on two counts of Assault in the Third Degree. Jones is being held on 10,000 bail.
