FOUND: Matthew Ryan has been found safe.


Detectives from the Portland Police Bureau's Missing Persons Unit are asking for the public's help in locating 16-year-old Matthew Ryan, who broke out of a Northeast Portland hospital's secure care unit, at approximately 10:00pm last night, August 27, 2012.

Ryan suffers from a serious medical condition, which could cause him to become a danger to himself, if not treated properly. Ryan was last seeing fleeing the area of Northeast 47th Avenue / Northeast Glisan Street, on foot.

Ryan is described as a 16-year-old white male, 5'10", 160 pounds, with short, spikey, dark brown brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a red, short-sleeved T-shirt, plaid shorts, and socks (he was not wearing any shoes).

Anyone who knows of Ryan's whereabouts is asked not to approach him, but to immediately call 9-1-1. Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to contact Detective Mike Weinstein, PPB Missing Persons Unit, at 503-823-0446.
