On Friday September 7, 2012, Jeffrey Haase died as a result of injuries he suffered in this crash. Initial information indicated that alcohol was a factor in the crash but upon further investigation, it has been determined that alcohol was not a factor.

On Wednesday September 5, 2012, at 10:34 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to a single vehicle crash on Southwest Arthur Street under Naito Parkway. Officers arrived at the scene and learned that the rider of a mini-motorcycle (49cc Honda) crashed into a concrete support for the Naito Parkway overpass.

Medical personnel responded and transported the rider, 22-year-old Jeffrey Haase, to a local hospital with traumatic head injuries. Haase remains in critical condition at this time.

The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division Major Crash Team responded and conducted an investigation into the crash and interviewed several witnesses.

Based on the investigation, alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
