23-year-old Dustin Glynn Cates was arrested by Portland Police for Assault in the Fourth Degree.

Cates assaulted his pregnant 24-year-old girlfriend and was cut by a knife during the struggle.

Cates was booked into the Multnomah County Jail.



On Monday October 29, 2012 just after 3:00 a.m. Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a stabbing at the Starbucks located at 1035 NE Martin Luther King BLVD.

Officers arrived and found a male and female behind the building, the male had apparently been stabbed by the female. They are known to one another.

A crime scene was located in the back stairwell of the Convention Center Plaza (310 NE Multnomah) along with evidence of illegal drug use. Both subjects were less than cooperative and appeared to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

The male was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The female was transported to North Precinct.

The Domestic Violence Reduction Unit Detectives responded to the scene and they are continuing the investigation.
