UPDAT #2: Major Crash Team Investigating Hit and Run to Pedestrian in Southeast Portland

The victim of Halloween night's fatal hit and run at Southeast 71st and Powell has been identified as 60-year-old David Charles Eklund. A photo of the victim is being released to the public.

Investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-colored, small SUV. It is not known what type of body damage may exist on the vehicle.

The driver is described as a white male in his 30s or 40s, with short, black hair.

The victim in this hit and run, a 60-year-old male, died at a Portland hospital late Wednesday evening. Officers are continuing to investigate and the man's identity will be released after his family is notified.

The only additional information at this point is that the driver of the suspect vehicle, a black SUV, is described as a white male.

This evening, Wednesday October 31, 2012, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to the report of a hit and run to a pedestrian at Southeast 71st and Powell.

Officers arrived and located the victim who was suffering from life-threatening injuries. The victim has been transported to a Portland hospital and the condition is not known at this time.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black SUV last seen westbound on Powell.

The Traffic Division Major Crash Team is responding to investigate.
