Portland Police Investigating an Armed Robbery with a Shot Fired in the Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood

On Monday morning, November 12, 2012, at 3:49 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to the report of an armed robbery at The Daily Planet, located 11312 Southeast Powell Boulevard.

Officers arrived in the area and contacted the bartender who told police that he closed up the bar and was walking to his car when the suspect approached him and demanded he go back and open the bar.

The victim told police that as he struggled to open the door to the bar, the suspect fired one shot. The victim got the door open and the suspect fired an additional round.

The suspect ran out the front door of the bar and was last seen running eastbound on Southeast Powell Boulevard. The suspect did not obtain any money from the bar and the victim was uninjured.

Portland Police officers established a neighborhood perimeter and a Gresham Police Department K-9 unit responded to assist in a search for the suspect. After an extensive neighborhood search, the suspect was not located by police.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, 5'10" tall, slender build, wearing a black and gray checkered shirt and mask. The suspect was armed with a handgun.

Robbery detectives responded and continued the investigation.
