UPDATE: Portland Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect in Southwest Portland

31-year-old Daniel Arthur Carter was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a U.S. Marshals hold with Federal Bank Robbery charges pending.



This afternoon, Wednesday November 21, 2012, at 3:04 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to the report of an armed bank robbery and carjacking at the U.S. Bank branch, located at 7300 Southwest Terwilliger Boulevard.

As officers were enroute they learned that the suspect entered the bank, armed with a handgun, and demanded money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect ran outside and attempted to carjack two different cars, before running away. Arriving officers saw the suspect and were able to quickly get him into custody after a brief struggle.

Nobody was injured during the robbery and subsequent attempted carjackings. The suspect's gun was recovered by police.

Robbery detectives are responding to investigate and additional details will be released when they become available.
