November 27, 2012 16:36The Portland Police Bureau, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help in solving a sexual assault that occurred near Portland State University.
On Monday November 26, 2012, at 3:14 a.m., Portland Police responded to Southwest 10th Avenue and Market Street on the report of a sexual assault.
Officers arrived and contacted the 27-year-old female victim and learned that she was walking to her dorm at Portland State University from the area of Southwest 10th Avenue and Yamhill Street. She remembered a man following her and that she was hit over the head, then woke up in an alley behind her dorm at Southwest 10th and Market. The assault occurred sometime between 2:30 and 3:00 a.m.
Medical personnel responded and transported her to a Portland hospital, where she was treated and released. The victim is a student at Portland State University.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-30s, 6'0" tall, 180 pounds, shaggy light brown hair, pronounced cheekbones, an unshaven face, and rough hands. The victim remembers that the suspect smelled like sawdust and was very twitchy, as if he was under the influence of an intoxicant.
The victim did not know the suspect.
Multiple police officers, including a Police K-9 Unit, have searched the neighborhood but have not located the suspect.
A forensic sketch of the suspect is being released to assist the public in identifying the suspect.
