UPDATE: Portland Police Investigating a Stabbing in Southwest Portland's Multnomah Neighborhood

The victim in Friday afternoon's stabbing has been identified as 41-year-old Benjamin Knepper. Knepper remains in a Portland hospital recovering from stab wounds. Assault Detectives were able to determine that the stabbing occurred at an apartment in the 1900 block of Southwest Hume Court and Knepper was driven from the scene and was dropped off in the 3800 block of Southwest Multnomah Boulevard.

Assault detectives are still working to determine what exactly happened leading up to the stabbing and why Knepper was driven from the crime scene.

This afternoon, Friday November 30, 2012, at 3:46 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to Southwest 40th Avenue and Multnomah Boulevard on the report of two men bleeding in a parking lot in the 3800 block of Southwest Multnomah Boulevard.

Officers arrived and located one male adult suffering from a stab wound. The victim has been transported to a Portland hospital for treatment. His condition is not known at this time.

A second victim has not been located by police.

Officers are checking an apartment in the 1900 block of Southwest Hume Court as a possible crime scene but cannot confirm that it's related at this point.

A possible suspect is described as a short white male in his 20s, blue shirt, possible blue jeans, carrying a handgun. Last seen walking northbound on Southwest 19th Avenue.
