The driver in this case has been identified as 34-year-old Gillian Claire Stanley of Milwaukie, Oregon. She remains in a Portland hospital recovering from serious injuries suffered in this crash.

DUII charges for Stanley are pending.

On Friday December 7, 2012, at 12:33 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to the report of a single vehicle crash at Northeast Columbia Boulevard and 33rd Avenue.

Officers arrived and found a gold 1998 Toyota Corolla four-door crashed into the 33rd Avenue overpass abutment.

The driver, a 34-year-old female, was ejected after the impact. Medical personnel transported her to a Portland hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police that the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Columbia Boulevard eastbound without headlights on and in the center turn lane before striking the abutment and spinning off into a fence. The driver was ejected and trapped under the car where witnesses pulled her from prior to police arrival.

Investigators from the Traffic Division's Major Crash Team have determined that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

This case is still under investigation and the name of the driver will be released upon family notification.

Columbia Boulevard was closed for a few hours as investigators processed the crash scene.
