UPDATE #2: Metro Bomb Squad Responding to Suspicious Device Dropped off at Pearl District Bank

The area around Chase Bank is now reopen to all traffic. Bomb Techs were able to examine the package and determined it was not an explosive device. The box contained various clothing, papers and garbage.

The suspect is described as a white male 45 to 50 years old, 5'10" tall, 180 to 190 pounds, scruffy face, wearing a heavy backpack and a beanie cap. He was last seen walking northbound on Northwest 11th Avenue.

This morning, Monday December 10, 2012, at 9:33 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to the report of a subject dropping off a suspicious package inside the Chase Bank branch, located at 1035 Northwest Lovejoy Street.

Officers arrived and, after an initial examination, called for the Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit to respond.

The bank and neighboring businesses have been evacuated and all traffic is closed from 10th to 12th Avenues, Kearney to Marshall Streets.
