On Friday December 7, 2012, Portland Police officers arrested 40-year-old Harvie Dale Oglesby III after he robbed the Consolidated Community Credit Union in Northeast Portland's Kerns neighborhood.

As officers were enroute to the credit union, located at 2021 Northeast Sandy Boulevard, they received additional information that the suspect used a demand note and after obtaining an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect left the bank and witnesses provided a detailed description to police.

Officers converged on the neighborhood near the bank and located a man matching the suspect's description riding a bicycle away from the area of the bank. Officers were able to catch up with the man and take him into custody at Northeast 31st Avenue and Irving Street. Evidence from the bank robbery was recovered from the suspect.

Detectives identified the suspect as 40-year-old Harvie Dale Oglesby III and believe he is responsible for an additional four bank robberies in Portland.

- July 19, 2012, at the U.S. Bank, located at 7300 Southwest Terwilliger Boulevard.

- August 31, 2012, at the Albina Community Bank, located at 5636 Northeast Sandy Boulevard.

- October 19, 2012, at the Key Bank, located at 3839 Northeast Broadway.

- November 26, 2012 at the Key Bank, located at 3515 Southwest Troy Street.

Oglesby earned the nickname the "Hipster Bandit" after a witness in the August robbery told police that he "looked like a hipster."

Oglesby remains in the Multnomah County Jail with Federal Bank Robbery charges pending.
