In response to yesterday's tragic shooting at Clackamas Town Center, Portland Police officers will be providing extra patrol around Portland shopping malls and business districts with a high concentration of retail establishments.

These extra patrols will continue throughout the remainder of the holiday season.

At this time, there is no information to suggest a similar incident will occur in the City of Portland.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the individuals and families impacted by this senseless act of violence," said Chief Mike Reese. "I was impressed with the quick, professional response by the many law enforcement agencies that arrived on a chaotic scene. Sheriff Craig Roberts and the deputies at the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office are to a commended for their work throughout this challenging incident."

The Portland Police Bureau would like to remind people: "If you see something, say something."

Portland's non-emergency number is (503) 823-3333. For emergencies, call 9-1-1.
