On Wednesday December 19, 2012, at 3:40 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a Sonitrol burglary alarm at Art4m, located at 237 Northeast Broadway.

Officers arrived in the area and began to set up neighborhood containment around the building. An officer saw the suspect exit through the smashed out front window carrying a computer.

The officer gave the suspect commands to surrender. The suspect complied with those commands and was taken into custody without incident.

Burglary detectives were able to connect him with two additional commercial burglaries in Portland.

44-year-old Jeffrey Jay Hersel was charged with three counts of Burglary in the Second Degree and booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
