Officers investigating last night's stabbing recovered evidence indicating that the 24-year-old woman's stab wound may have been self-inflicted. Officers at the hospital put a hold on her for a mental health evaluation.

This evening, Thursday December 27, 2012, at 9:00 p.m., Portland Police responded to the report of a stabbing on Southeast 174th Avenue, just South of Stark Street.
Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the victim, a female in her 20s, suffering from a stab wound. The victim has been transported to a Portland hospital with what are described to be a non-life-threatening injury.
The victim told police that the suspect walked up to her and stabbed her without provocation.
The suspect is described as a female, unknown race, 5'7" tall, stocky build, wearing all dark clothing.
Officers, including a Police K-9 Unit, conducted an extensive neighborhood search but did not locate anyone matching the suspect's description.
