On Thursday January 3, 2013, the U.S. Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force arrested 37-year-old Michael James Kirkland at his residence at 1212 Southwest Clay Street in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Jaime Lyn Larson of Southwest Portland.

Kirkland was charged with Aggravated Murder and was booked into the Multnomah County Jail. He will be arraigned on Friday in Multnomah County Court.

Portland Police Bureau Homicide detectives worked with the Forensic Evidence Division and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab to gather forensic evidence from the crime scene and ultimately some of this evidence assisted in identifying Kirkland.

Once Kirkland was identified, Homicide detectives contacted the U.S. Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force to locate and arrest him and transport him to the Detective Division.

No additional details about the homicide investigation can be released at this time.

Detectives would still like to hear from anyone who has information about Larson's murder and/or any information about Michael James Kirkland.

Information can be directed to Detective Molly Daul at (503) 823-0991 or Molly.Daul@PortlandOregon.gov.
