On Monday January 7, 2013, at 2:28 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to a residence in the 3200 block of Southeast 22nd Avenue on the report of a domestic assault.
Officers arrived and spoke to the adult female victim who told police that her boyfriend assaulted her and choked her with his dread-locked hair. The victim provided a good description of the suspect and officers canvassing the neighborhood located the man and took him into custody.
The victim was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment to numerous, non-life-threatening injuries.
32-year-old Caleb Grotberg was charged with Kidnap in the Second Degree, Attempted Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Menacing, and Strangulation; all Domestic Violence felony crimes.
Grotberg was booked into the Multnomah County Jail and will be arraigned on Tuesday.
