UPDATE: Portland Police Investigating a Stabbing in Northeast Portland's King Neighborhood

Officer processing the crime scene last night located the victim's residence and family nearby. Detectives responded and, based on their investigation, believe the woman's injuries are self inflicted.

The woman remains in a Portland hospital recovering from her injuries.

This morning, Monday February 11, 2013, at 1:28 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to Northeast 9th Avenue and Alberta Street on the report of an assault. The caller reported finding a female down on the ground who appeared to be assaulted.

Officers arrived and the caller directed them to the adult female victim nearby who was suffering from at least one stab wound. Medical personnel arrived and transported her to a Portland hospital. Her condition is not known at this time.

Officers have established a neighborhood perimeter around the possible crime scene, from 9th to 10th Avenues, Alberta to Wygant Streets.

Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division have been called to the scene to process possible evidence and detectives are being consulted.
